Jacob Cohën comes from Italy and is also made in Italy. Jacob Cohën was founded in 1985 by Tato Bardelle. Where the brand name Jacob Cohën comes from is not entirely clear. Presumably, it was intended to sound like a luxury American designer jeans brand. ‘Jacob’ is also said to be a tribute to Jacob Davis, the inventor of the use of copper rivets in jeans (a patent that eventually made Levi Strauss famous). Jacob Cohën was made big by Tato's son, Nicola Bardelle. Nicola passed away at a young age in a car accident in 2012. The company was continued by his widow, Jennifer Tommasi Bardelle. The company is currently led by Luca Roda, but Jennifer is still creatively involved.
