These beautiful blue striped socks show precipitation patterns in the Netherlands since 1901. Based on temperature variations (provided by climate scientist Ed Hawkins), Effio has interpreted the erratic nature of rainfall in the Netherlands. The darker the blue, the more erratic the precipitation: increasingly extreme dry and wet periods. The pattern shows that precipitation patterns have become increasingly erratic in recent decades.
